I was born and raised in Tennessee and I am an herbalist. I have been to many states and even a few other countries, but when it was all said and done Tennessee was home. I love plants. I love the fact that all plants have a hidden life. I enjoy helping others and being able to save them some money. Now I would never say "Don't go to the doctor." Doctors for the most part are wonderful people who have great skills. However, I might say "Did you know that a mix of white willow bark and devil's claw root tinctures will help with pain and inflammation, and it's not so hard on your liver as things you can buy over the counter." Might even tell you a story about the first time our family used it. You might even get a giggle out of the reactions some have had to it.
Why do we steep the teas for 8 to 10 minutes? Because it takes at least 8 minutes for the water to extract the constituents from the plant. Our plants are harvested a the peak of the season and air dried. The plant matter is rehydrated as it is steeping while at the same time pulling the active properties of the plants out. Depending on the herb if you steep it for longer than 10 minutes it may become so bitter that it is undrinkable, or the constituents may become less viable.
Where do the herbs come from? Most I grow or wildcraft myself, but the ones that can’t be grown locally, are sourced from farmers who have the highest level of quality for organically grown or wildcrafted plants.
Can I add sweetener to the tea? For Most blends, you can add honey and lemon to taste. However, if you are brewing a bitter tea to help with an upset stomach or indigestion, it is the bitterness of the tea that soothes the stomach. So we recommend not adding a sweetener to those. Some teas have stevia leaves, a natural sweetener, included in the blend. You should try the tea without adding anything first.
How much tea can I drink a day? In most cases, I think you should drink as needed. If there are exceptions to this, it will be on the product.
